Advertising & Mass Media Summary

Advertising: is a type of communication that is used to persuade, through a message, an audience to do or not to do something (like buying a product), to modify a conduct (like smoking or driving under the influence of alcohol) or for transmitting political ideologies (political propaganda).

Mass Media: refers to the technologies that have a major role in the society and that permits communication (means of communication). These technologies are used to deliver information to a huge audience at the same time, for example: TV, radio, Internet, newspapers, magazines, etc.

As a result: Effective advertising is only possible thanks to the massive means of communication, otherwise, the message that the advertiser wants to deliver, won’t be properly received by the audience.
